George Thomas Associates, a leading architecture and interior design firm based in Kannur, Cochin and Bangalore was established by George Thomas K .in 1997. Services include Architecture, Interiors, Landscape design, Civil/structural and Concept development. The firm headed by principle architect George Thomas K and a team of highly motivated professionals both rich in experience and contemporary thinking, has created a portfolio of work ranging from residential to commercial/corporate offices and hospitality projects.

George Thomas Architects and Interior Designers create from inception to completion a unique style in their body of work embracing a tropical style of architecture using local materials and provide sustainability. They reinterpret their designs with a modern and contemporary outlook keeping tradition and culture in mind.

Their works have been regularly featured in popular architecture and interior design magazines across the print media & have been featured on most leading satellite channels of the visual media as well. The firm has also been listed in the top 100 influential practices in Kerala. The residences designed for the former District Collector of Kannur, the immediate past Chief Election Commissioner of Kerala, The president of the Handloom Exporters Association and the president of the Indian Medical Association have won much acclaim.

The site should dictate the architecture on it and not vice-versa. In an age where global warming is increasing at an alarming rate & there is random abuse of fossil fuels, sustainability and environment friendly architecture and design have become a priority and a reality. Sri George.K.Thomas.Barch.A.I.I.A, Graduated from M.I.T.Manipal has over 25 years of experience in the Design Industry. As Project Manager and Design Director, George has overseen the execution of more than 100 projects and has developed A Vast client base varying from residences to commercial and hospitality projects . He has the unique ability to compliment both function and aesthetics in a project keeping in mind of Local Values and Tradition. Proving true Leadership, He is Pro Active and extensively involved in Planning and Design strategies to develop A safe and Functional Building. The founding Chairman of Kannur Chapter A.I.I.A, He is actively involved in the greater development of Kannur City and Planning Strategies. He received the ‘OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION’ Award from IIA Kerala Chapter in Jan. 2009.

Highlights

  • Many of his projects were telecast by Asianet & Jeevan T.V channels. The Designer + Builder magazine brought out a special edition to honor him in April 2007.
  • The Vanitha magazine and the Grihalakshmi magazine featured him many a times as an outstanding Architect with innovative skills.
  • The National daily, ‘The Hindu’, also published some of his articles about architecture.
  • He is the past Chairman of The Indian Institute Of Architects Kannur and is presently the Hon. Secretary of the Indian Institute of Architect Kerala chapter.
